US President Donald Trump has hit out at the Modi government and US President Donald Trump today said India's imposition of retaliatory tariffs was "unacceptable" and must be withdrawn.

RETALIATE TARIFFS:-a tax that a government charges on imports to punish another country for charging tax on its own exports.After Trump announced end of preferential trade with India and the Modi government hit back with retaliatory tariffs on 28 US products earlier this month.

The Modi government's decision to impose tariffs on US products came into force earlier this month after being stalled for several months.

On Thursday morning, as Trump reached Japan for the G20 Summit, where he will be meeting PM Modi,for years having put very high Tariffs against the United States, just recently increased the Tariffs even further, was accepted and must be withdrawn, as us president said .
US had significantly imposed custom duty on steel and aluminum products.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who was in New Delhi on Wednesday,   spoke on similar lines as Trump and told External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar that the country needs better trade access and for that we have to focus on the negotiating improved trade and investment ties between the two nations.

Pompeo  also said, that the two nations are friends who can help each other and gave    specifics of how they would overcome disputes over trade and investment.  the two countries grapple with issues ranging  between them from access to Indian markets for American firms to New Delhi's demand for foreign companies and "steel and aluminium" export in the u.s.

This comes ahead of Modi's meeting with Donald Trump at the G20 Summit. Apart from the summit deliberations, the two leaders are expected to hold bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Osaka summit on Friday. President Trump is likely to bring up the contentious issue of tariffs imposed on US products.
